Handling of waste at the Port of Aabenraa
Ships have a duty to deliver waste when they call at Danish ports. At the Port of Aabenraa there are efficient and eco-friendly solutions for the reception and handling of waste.
Delivery of slop oil at the Port of Aabenraa
Slop and other liquid oleaginous waste are received in accordance with legislation concerning the reception of waste from ships. Delivery must be agreed with the Port of Aabenraa no later than 24 hours prior to arrival.
Oleaginous waste is collected in 1 m3 containers, after which Avista Oil takes over responsibility for collection and transports the waste for treatment. The oils are re-refined such that harmful heavy metals and other pollutants are removed.
Ships shall ensure that oil waste is pumped to these containers. It is possible to take delivery of a mobile tanker for delivery of oil waste at all quays.
Slop and other liquid oleaginous waste are received in accordance with applicable legislation concerning the reception of waste from ships. 1 m3 can be delivered without charge.
Duty of delivery
All ships have a duty to deliver waste when they call at Danish ports. Ships are exempt from this duty of delivery, however, if small quantities of waste are involved which can be stored on board in an environmentally sound manner and if the waste, along with subsequently produced waste, can be delivered to a subsequent port. Ships that are to deliver waste must complete a Waste Notification Form.
Handling of waste
The Port of Aabenraa has established efficient solutions for the reception of waste and thereby contributes to the handling of operational and hold waste in an environmentally sound manner. The aim is to make it as easy as possible for ships calling at the port to deliver their waste, such that waste is not flushed out or dumped at sea.
