Development Plan 2055
For more than 750 years, Aabenraa Havn has been a hub for trade, supply, and employment. With Development Plan 2055, we are setting a course to ensure the port's role as the region's most important blue transport hub – locally, nationally, and internationally.
Three Ports – Three Roles
The plan is based on a differentiated development:
-
Aabenraa Havn continues as a center for bulk and logistics, with investments in, among other things, new quay facilities, shore power, and comprehensive climate protection, so that companies' assets are protected against rising water levels.
-
Ensted Havn is being developed into a growth area for green energy, recycling, and production. Here, there is room for new companies within P2X, biogas, hydrogen, and circular solutions.
-
The Outer Harbor is being investigated as a future opportunity for an international bulk terminal that can ensure capacity and relieve the port in the city.
Investments and Jobs
The development plan contains investments of up to half a billion kroner towards 2030 and more than one billion in a long-term perspective. The investments are made in stages and customer-driven – that is, only when there is certainty of demand and cooperation. This maintains the principles of responsible economics and low risk.
The port is currently the foundation for over 2,000 jobs. With Development Plan 2055, we can create even more – both directly at the port and in the companies that choose to locate in Aabenraa, because the infrastructure and framework are in place.
Green Transition and Climate Protection
The plan supports the government's and the EU's goal of moving more goods from road to sea. Sea transport is the most climate-friendly form of transport, and Aabenraa Havn is part of the EU's TEN-T network – the blue motorway through Europe. At the same time, a new climate protection plan ensures that the port's companies are protected against storm surges and sea level rise until the middle of the century.
A Robust Foundation
With agreements of up to 30 years, the port gives companies peace of mind to make long-term investments. At the same time, we create a balance between city and port through dialogue with citizens, authorities and stakeholders.
Development Plan 2055 is thus not just a plan for a port – but for all of Southern Jutland's business development, green transition and future jobs.
